Very sorry to hear about your situation Kay Ann. Unfortunately as you know the police, the law and the courts are mostly blind to narcissistic personality disorder abuses. What CNI does is mostly theoretical so a narcissist involved in organized crime is not really something we can advise you on without a great deal of resources and study.

I would suggest looking into narcissist support groups who are more specialized in the kind of abuse you are going through, although you obviously need to be very cautious with how much, and who you tell. Sorry, not to be of more help. You have an extra tough one, but you should be proud of your resiliency.

Well said, Sam, with your comment: โ€œIt is so important to always remember how far behind humanity is in learning how to better recognize, counter and contain the malignant narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths that are living among us, and damaging innocents via our governments. โ€œ

Narcissism is an insidious human trait. Once you learn about it, one can look back into history and see how destructive it is to our fellow humans and, now, our planet. Kings, emperors, titans of industry, and schoolyard bullies. They all seek to be glorified at any cost.

Hereโ€™s an insane idea: a one semester course on human emotional flaws taught at the junior level in high school. Everyone could learn about narcissistic tendencies in humansโ€ฆ, and about other psychological traits that we all have, such as depression and anxiety. The WHO estimates that 1 in 8 people lives with a psychological disorder.

I agree, wholeheartedly! A semester per year in high school would be more appropriate. My depression and anxiety were caused by a narcissistic mother. Wish Iโ€™d had an opportunity to learn more about it sooner.

Thank you for sharing your story. Itโ€™s so unjust to have a parent who uses emotions against their kid. I just realized how tricky it will be for a teen to react productively to a high school class teaching a parent is a narcissist.

I didnโ€™t really learn my mom was a narcissist until I was in counseling until my 40s. At that point, my only defense was to stay as far away from her as I could. The knowledge has been helpful in recognizing and avoiding other narcissists.

Usually, the only defense at any age is to stay as far away as possible because theyโ€™ll never change.

Narcissism in politics as well as life in general is much more prevalent than most think. It's also insidious and you can be fooled, conned or manipulated by a narcissist before you know it. I've had encounters with a few myself that involved lawsuits and struggles for months. It pays to get educated about this rising tide of narcissistic authoritarianism. Sam Ray is doing "gods" work with his substack.

If you treat others you want help from with this victim guilt, people who can help won't.

Compulsive playing the victim is a highly narcissistic tell, so please go silent or be blocked.

Thank you for sharing your story and perspective. I try to at least send people off in the right direction but of course the first rule is do no harm.

Unfortunately, children of narcissists have their realities distorted & are groomed with highly narcissistic behaviors, thus becoming quasi-narcissists, who can heal through love and therapy, or be sent off the deep end through lack of love, mediocre therapy & a sense of hopelessness.

I.e. It's certainly possible she was legit but she couldn't get out of her own way. I wish her well, but since CNI's mission is focused on helping as many people as possible, I couldn't get sucked into that kind of drama, whatever it was.
