Sam, I think this idea of knowing how to trigger TFG is not just a schoolyard contest of who can bully the bully. But even if it were, that would be OK with me. This upcoming debate, however, is far more serious than anything we've been up against before, not just because 45 is the craziest, most dangerous man to ever walk the American political stage, but because he's had these last 8 years to coalesce a goodly proportion of voters just as rabidly afflicted with the idealization of raw power as he is. That's why, anything Biden can do to expose the deranged, vengeful underbelly of the guy who needs help maintaining his "stable genius" disguise, would be great!
I’m really disheartened (though not surprised) to learn that CNN has decided it’s not their place to point out when Trump is lying, which means the entire debate could easily be nothing but an argument over whether Trump is lying, which he’ll never admit, making the whole thing a wash.
I guess the key is to just point out that he’s lying, know he’ll never admit it, and move to the next way to hurt him. But do you have any suggestions in this regard?
Well, I think responding to a triggering attempt is one thing, and responding to a factual lie about policy is another. Doing the latter without either letting the lie slide or letting the liar dictate the terms of the entire conversation is the tricky part.
