What I find truly terrifying is that 33% of the country will vote for him because they need their powerful daddy figure. They don't understand how badly they will be harmed by Trump. They would lose whatever federal aid they are receiving. Medicare, gone. Disability, gone. Social Security, gone. I think the press needs to cover that reality repeatedly. They seriously need the counter programming. Oh, and the Republicans are working tirelessly in the background to make it harder to vote and easier to cheat. They will stop at nothing to get Trump installed in the White House again.
I'm sure you're aware of the attempted coup by Wall Street against FDR. Prescott Bush was involved as was the Dupont families and others. Those people were not punished for their crimes. It seems to me that some of the MSM got the memo. Last night on MSNBC the panel included Jelani Cobb ( historian/TNYer columnist), David Kay Johnson ( chronicler of trump’s perfidy/former NYTs) and Tom Nichols ( professor, historian and maga explainer/The Atlantic). They couldn’t be any more alarmed about the fact existential crisis before us. CNN is trying too but they tend to follow the new shiny object ( vermin)put before them leaving behind yesterday’s shiny object ( trump not testifying). I don’t even watch the 3 major networks anymore as they have as much depth as a kiddie pool. PBS, I’m afraid, has gotten too mediocre. It use to be cutting edge and would take the deep dive--looks like some corporate mid level got control of programming.
I digress. I do think the journalists are trying and hopefully traction will set in. Just like in 2020 during the debates and it was obvious to the majority of the public that trump is insane.
Thanks for update and confirmation of what I have been observing as well. Although Jelani, David K and Tom appear on MSM a lot, they always seem to stand out on the side of truth telling, as best they can and I appreciate all three of them for that. Must have been a high-level discussion.
Funny thing, from early on in 2015 through most of the djt regime , many of us would clown Tom on twitter for taking too long to see trump and the gop for what they really were, but to his credit, he mostly took it like a man. I remember making a bad but kind of funny joke about Tom's diapers not being the only thing full of sh*t, but he let me say my peace.
However, I initially regretted it bc a well known GOP operative unfollowed me for it when I was trying to teach them CNI. It later became a thing of pride when it was revealed the guy was a sexual predator.

I think Tom has apologized, not just to you but all his and Atlantic’s readers as I recall him writing a mea culpa piece describing his slow realization that his Republican roots were rotting under him. He’s fully on board and perhaps they ( the left) don’t throw the NPD acronym around as much as they should, they still describe the traits pertinent to the dx.
One other thing: I suppose this couple is small fish to fry but the GOP power couple , The Zieglers, who both refuse to resign from their power positions ( she of the Sarasota school board) and he as Fl GOP party chair. The narcissism ( let alone the craven hypocrisy) of behaving that a 3 way is no problem when you’re involved in banning books that explore different interests in sexuality and of course the heavily Republican influenced Fl legislature w the Don’t Say Gay bill, DeSantis forcing teachers and college professors to declare their ideology to make sure they are fit to teach. I’m enjoying the turmoil ( I need something to enjoy as this state sucks the decency out of life here). But I would enjoy you taking aim at the couple.
