We mapped the number of COVID cases in Florida (and other states) and the fatal cost of Republican incompetence and bungling their response to the pandemic. DeSantis and Abbott were two of the worst...

It was a horror to watch it in real-time. Deepak does have great maps & graphics though.

Could the devil of which you wrote be Jeb Bush? As to Rapey McForehead, an "accidental" death of someone at one of his cocaine fuelled parties🤔

Nope, not Jeb.

Drats🤣 He was the only person I could think of that you didn't already mention.

Matt Gaetz is the product of his father Don Gaetz and his family. His father is both wealthy (founded and sold a multi million dollar healthcare company, much like Tim Scott did) and very well connected in FL state politics. Matt is living off the largesse of his father’s money and connections, and has been bailed out by him previously.

Indeed all true but I think you mean Rick Scott unless Tim Scott in SC did it too.

Nahh, just Don Gaetz and Rick Scott. Except Gaetz made a non public settlement for what appears to be the same items Scott was tagged on. Birds of a feather they are.

Yeah, apologies to everyone, and to Tim Scott.

No worries. Innocent mistake. Are you in Florida?

Returned here after a 60 year hiatus in So Cal.

Nope, much worse… Texas

I asked bc I never heard of Don until I started looking at his fallen apple. I'm curious how you heard about him in Texas or So Cal, or is from a past GOP life?

All since moving back to TX in 2021. I started digging and sniffing when Matt Gaetz kept slithering out of indictments and investigations a year or two back. (Time flies by so quickly it seems.) It smelled fishy and turns out it was, although there were no direct ties that I could find at the time with my limited resources. But, a long time local reporter mentioned a tie in to the “Gaetz family” shortly thereafter and turned on the lights for me. Not hard to follow after that. Guys like Matt Gaetz are protected by family wealth and connections in the same way that many folks I know in CA were and are. The process is literally the same everywhere. Proving it is always very hard to do even when there are hand and foot prints to follow.

I hear ya. Greg Abbott is a long requested profile & high on my list, but if I profile him, I have to do all of Republican Texas, & that's 1 big coo coo nest.

Bwahahaha… so true. Where does one start? Bush? Before Bush? The North Texas evangelical chapters of WCN? The entire GOP conflagration is a big ball of cottonmouth snakes in a dry riverbed.

BTW, Paul Cobaugh calls Abbott “hot wheels.”

I almost always agree with Paul but the psych says don't give him a cool name.

Oh, oh is it Brian Mast? If not, do him. He runs around FL saying save the estuaries and no more agricultural runoff in our ocean or intracoastal waterways but here we are years later and the same shit happens year after year. Release the sludge and thank you Mr. Sugar for the donation! He is a wind bag of lies too!

Thanks! Not Brian Mast but it sure sounds like he fits the psychology & needs to be added to the list. I'll definitely check him out bc there are few creeps I hate more than enviro liars.

So much to unpack on this comprehensive exposition of the main players in Fl politics plus the added entertainment of the Ziegler’s thrown in.

Its all here in the hot, humid lab of human experimentation: the swinging; the inhumane Public Health Service ( in addition to rejecting the Feds offer to expand Medicaid); the ability to get voters to think Christian Nationalists are good people interested in helping the middle class; it is a regular shit show. We went from the recently deceased Democratic governor Bob Graham to Jeb to Crist to Scott as governors. I blame Crist for all the mayhem as he elected to not run for a second term as governor and instead lost to Rubio for the senate seat. This allowed Scott to spend close to 100M of his own fortune ( made from his years as CEO of HCA perpetuating fraud on the government Medicare system). The strategy is to scream loud and often how progressives and their social programs ( helping immigrants, accessing mental health facilities , gun control, taxing the wealthy) is all bad. The surgeon general is particularly cruel and destructive trying so hard to fit in a state that is racist but actually enacting laws that prevent Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Perhaps one day he won’t enjoy being an Uncle Tom ( just like I hope Clarence Thomas will wake up on a similar day not being a self hating black man undoing 200 years of social/civil rights progress. The Fl AG is now suing the Frderal Government for demanding gun shows( that slip thru the cracks) and private dealers do background checks on sales. I always thought it was just as matter of time as the mass shooting worsens and starts affecting most people that reasonable laws would be enacted. But no. However one can still not enter a courthouse, the legislature or governors mansion w a gun. Just the places where we work, shop and go about our lives.

America, greatest country in the world.
