Your understanding of malignant narcissists is what drew me to your writing. So I shouldn’t be surprised that you show the same clarity on the complexities of Israel and the Palestinians. Thank you
Stunning. This is why I turn to those of you who have actually studied these things and stay away from my own opinions, which are based on nothing more than what my gut tells me.
Thank you for your years of service. It shows and it's needed, now that the world grows smaller and smaller and we find, even on our own shores, that malignant narcissism grows where we least expect it.
✨This might be my third message on the read, but every time I come back to re-read it, it has disappeared... I will thus write it again ✨
✨Interesting read, Sam !
Yet, we must not to fall into the trap of speculating about deplorable trump disclosing top-secret information to deplorable putin via labrov and kislyak, then about deplorable putin sharing that intel with Iran, and finally Iran sharing it with Hamas to attack Israel.
The most important thing here is to condemn the Hamas terrorist organisation as well as the Israeli government, for their respective crimes against innocent Palestine and Israel citizens, and bring humanitarian help to Palestinians in Gaza to avoid more barbaric casualties. ✨
Re: "we must not to fall into the trap of speculating about deplorable trump disclosing top-secret information to deplorable putin...sharing that intel with Iran, and finally Iran sharing it with Hamas to attack Israel. " - I don't think there is much doubt trump gave Putin everything he asked for including as much as he could get on Israel's defenses for themselves and to give to Iran, but I don't see that as a trap. It's just a reality of "electing" a compromised grifter narcissist President. Unfortunately, condemnation has zero effect on malignant barbarians.
"old feuds and claims almost never truly seem to end there (in the Middle East). They appear to just pause and hide in the shadows until ready to start up again." Sam, your writings are very insightful. They demonstrate the Einstein quote about howl problems cannot be solved at the level they were created. Middle East "peace" is a game of Whack-a-Mole. It is something that exists only with dynamic tension. The constant fear of "something" happening drives people to strongmen. This is the dynamic Trump has exploited in our country. The people hire a man with a sledgehammer to pound down the mole who shows up at various times. They mistakenly believe that makes them "safe". The next mole who shows up may have an AR-15. Then, what are you going to do? I'm not a Bible thumper by any means, but I can see that the core issue here is fear. The Bible states, "Perfect love casts out fear." Well, how do you do that, you may ask? I don't have a sledgehammer or an AR-15, but I can participate in holding love for the area with a large amount of people. The internet has made this possible. There is a peace prayer at 12 noon today, which coordinates many people to hold the electromagnetic force of love for this area. This is solving the problem at a "different level" and actually has a name--The Maharishi Effect-- that you can look up. The "empty people" can take over only when the rest of the people have been manipulated to be afraid. For one hour today, we will "flood the zone" with love. Join if you can. https://youtu.be/Jnv9zDKpTkQ?si=6jx90dtr7nqyBn6o
Thank you for you kind words & sharing your well-considered thoughts. You had me at "Einstein quote." I'll need to give that one some thought myself. I've heard it a few times but never tried to apply it or even looked up what he meant by it? Fear is indeed a key if for no other reason than it turns off logic & reason so people can be more easily controlled by emotions.
Think of it this way. In a state of mind that is perfect love, fear cannot exist. Love is not an emotion. It is a state of mind that you choose to exist in or not. This is a challenge for, well, just about everybody. But it is easier to get there if a group chooses to do it together. The more love, the less fear, which is why James Twyman and so many others gather people together to experience peace in the self and to pray that it is already done for others. Fear is the tool of the empty people. I call narcissists "empty people" because their whole M.O. is to take from others in the mistaken idea that it will make them feel better. It never does so they keep coming back for more. I was that typical empath all my life who was the classic target. I have met a lot of these people and suffered because I didn't understand what was happening or who they were. I could be really resentful... But instead I'm choosing to see these people as already living in a state of love. It's a challenge! The more I learn about narcissism the better. This path is not without risk. I have been taken advantage of many times before. The key is to not get hooked into fear, but to radiate love instead. The quantum world responds to what we project. And the material world comes from the quantum world. A world full of love is significantly different than a world of hate! I don't have the talent to write articles about this stuff like you do. I am so grateful for your work! Imagining the "empty people" filled with love and radiating out into the world feels good to me. Your work helps me recognize when I bump into these guys. LOL.
Yup. I learned a little about Middle Eastern negotiation and dialogue thanks to a then (1970’s) uncommon friendship with an Iranian expat importing Middle Eastern goods into the US. The basics were to ignore the vehemence and histrionics and keep talking, but focus if the other side still has a grip on the, say rug for simplicity. As long as both sides had a grip, the “deal” was still in play. Continue the “dialogue”, often with loud, angry sounding histrionics, until one person lets go.
If it’s the seller, the deal is struck. If it’s the buyer, there’s no “deal.” Either way, it’s then time for another small but incredibly strong, highly sugared coffee in a glass cup with a wire holder, and discussions about family and other things. No hard feelings.
For US players, negotiations with Middle Easterners and some Europeans is decidedly different and there’s likely no coffee and lots of hard feelings. My conclusion all those years ago was that most “everyday” Americans simply don’t have an understanding about their languages and cultural styles, or both of our mutual histories that’s deeper than last week, but, they do have strong opinions and sensitive feelings.
Layering millennia of feelings, opinions, discrimination, wars, etc., creates a very complicated situation for which there may not be an “easy”, or perhaps any, solution, as you so aptly point out. “Everyday” Americans simply don’t understand how that’s possible.
Thanks for sharing your story and confirming insights KB. Indeed it has been painful to listen to almost all Americans think they know what they are talking about with other countries and particularly the Mid East for a very long time. Now I experience the same with psychology ; ) I had hoped the 2nd Iraq war might educate the country more but saw few signs of that during, and it's been downhill ever since.
Most welcome Duane and thank you for your interest in CNI. Definitely check out the archive for other subjects you may find useful. Since psychology advances at a glacial pace, most analysis stays relevant and on point for years.
I appreciate your clarity. We’d all do well to better educate ourselves on the regions, leaders, and conflicts of the world. There are good examples of what can happen if we allow malignant narcissists to rise to power unrestricted.
Really great advice - especially concerning listening more in these most heated moments and having the patience to avoid the hot takes. I need to follow that!
I think this is the best analysis I’ve seen from you ( but I’ve only been following for a few months). I also had a similar experience regarding the “negotiation “ which is universal in all dealings w the Arab culture. When I was 20 and backpacking in Marrakech, I found the Medina and was initially confused about the way of the sale. Luckily I was w a cousin fluent in French and spending his junior year abroad at Aix en Provence. In a matter of minutes a bracelet for 5 dirhams becomes 2 bracelets for 6 dirhams. Everything was not just st negotiable but you never knew where the deal was going. I hope it is still that way before this major assault into Gaza. I fully understand the trauma and need to defang Hamas. But just as the US stupidly invaded Iraq and Afghanistan post 9/11 instead of effective incisive strikes to prevent civilian casualties, wouldn’t it be in Israel’s interest to target the leaders and those who carried out the atrocities rather than Netanyahu’s approach of Gaza is a nail and all he has is a hammer. I’ll guess we’ll see but I’m not counting on someone who wants to hollow the judiciary to follow the rules of war.
Thanks for the kind words and sharing your experiences. Unfortunately for the Israeli & Palestinian people, you analysis of the current Israel/Gaza situation is the most likely outcome.
✨Interesting read, Sam. We must not fall into the trap of speculating that despicable trump gave despicable putin secret intel on Israel and that despicable putin gave it to Iran for it to give it to Hamas. There is no formal proof for those allegations. What must really be done here is condemning Hamas and the Israeli government for their heinous crimes against innocent Palestinians and Israeli citizens. ✨
Hamas is a very unpleasant group, particularly its military masterminds. But given what's widely known about Netanyahu and his allies' long-standing positions preferring Hamas over Fatah, and even going so far as to lend the former crucial support, Hamas looks a lot more like "the abyss staring back" than it does a fully autonomous historical actor.
Your understanding of malignant narcissists is what drew me to your writing. So I shouldn’t be surprised that you show the same clarity on the complexities of Israel and the Palestinians. Thank you
Thank you for your interest and kind words Abbi. It is always nice to hear that I accomplishing what I aspire to do.
Thank you for presenting this thoughtful information.
It seems there is a lot of ‘militant ignorance’ screeching around , all to assure themselves there is a quick answer to all of this.
Of course your well considered background was incredibly helpful in seeing the complexities of this ongoing catastrophe.
Thank you again for presenting us with
this background.
Thank you for your kind words Patricia. It took quite a bit of time & thought to get there.
